Your Tasks
- Data transformation and pipeline management: Design and optimization of data transformations in BigQuery; development and maintenance of standardized, automated, and monitored data pipelines ensuring reliability and scalability.
- Data mart development: Collaboration with analysts and business stakeholders for translation of business requirements into technical KPI definitions and implementation within the data mart layer.
- Data investigation and migration support: Participation in the migration from SAP BO to GCP/Looker through analysis of legacy reporting systems, comprehension of existing data usage and KPI logic, and definition of equivalent or improved BigQuery solutions.
- Gap analysis and integration: Identification of missing data points, evaluation of data dependencies, and coordination with the Data Engineering team for completeness and future-proofing of solutions.
- Data quality and governance: Implementation of monitoring, testing, and documentation frameworks ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and transparency.
- Stakeholder collaboration: Partnership with business teams and analysts for alignment of technical solutions with business needs and process requirements.
- Reporting enablement: Development of standardized reporting layers (e.g., Looker Studio, Looker ML) and prevention of inefficient ad-hoc reporting.
- User training and support: Occasional facilitation of training sessions and provision of support for business users to enhance adoption of reporting tools and understanding of KPI logic.
Your Profile
- Academic Degree: Bachelor's or Master's degree in relevant fields
- Advanced expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP), especially BigQuery. Proven experience in designing, optimizing and maintaining production-grade data pipelines and data marts in GCP. Hands-on experience in re-architecting and modernizing BI setups during migrations.
- Advanced SQL skills, including query optimization, complex joins, window functions, CTEs, performance tuning in large-scale datasets.
- Practical experience with Git version control: working with branches, pull requests, code reviews in a collaborative setup, ensuring changes to SQL models, pipelines are properly tracked and reviewed before deployment.
- Experience with data pipeline orchestration and automation (e.g. dbt, Apache Airflow, Dataflow, Spark or similar frameworks): designing, deploying and monitoring robust ELT processes
- Proven track record in data modeling and data mart development: fact/dimension modeling, conformed dimensions, KPI logic implementation, star/snowflake schemas. An ability to reconstruct KPI logic and dependencies across various tools and systems.
- Strong ability to design and document migration paths that both Data Engineers and business stakeholders can follow and trust.
- Hands-on experience with BI/visualization tools (especially with Looker Studio and Looker ML), with focus on enabling standardized reporting layers, not only ad-hoc analysis.
- Several years of relevant experience as a BI/Analytical Engineer, Data Engineer or Senior Data Analyst with ownership of data pipelines and models.
- Languages: Proficiency in English

We are looking for an Analytical Engineer (m/f/d) to strengthen our BI & Analytics capabilities in MediaMarktSaturn. This role bridges data engineering and business analytics, ensuring reliable well-structured and business-ready data flows in our Google Cloud Platform (GCP) environment.
The focus of this role is on building and maintaining scalable data pipelines, managing transformations and creating robust data marts to support business decision making.
