Your Tasks
- Semantic Layer Development & Maintenance: Ongoing development and maintenance of the LookML Hub project, including the use of extends and refinements to ensure a clean and scalable interface for spoke projects
- Hub-and-Spoke Architecture Ownership: Architecture and governance of the central LookML Hub, including definition of core dimensions, measures, and base views to ensure a consistent “Single Source of Truth.”
- Cross-Functional Architectural Support: Provision of architectural guidance and design support for Google BigQuery data structures, ensuring optimal alignment with the Looker Hub framework
- Self-Service Analytics Enablement: Design, implementation, and continuous improvement of an intuitive Explore environment to empower stakeholders with reliable and independent data access
- Advanced Data Modeling & Integration: Application of advanced Looker features, including Liquid parameters, PDTs, NDTs, and API integrations, to address complex analytical requirements
- BI Standards & Governance: Definition and implementation of coding standards for LookML, including modularization practices, version control using Git, and automated testing frameworks
- Collaboration & Process Alignment: Cross-functional collaboration with Data Engineering teams to ensure alignment between BigQuery schemas and Looker requirements, as well as structured support for analysts in spoke-specific implementations
- Subject Matter Expertise in BI: Representation as primary subject matter expert for Looker, including advisory support to BI analysts and business users in the development of reliable, scalable, and efficient reporting solutions
Your Profile
- Degree in Computer Science, Business Informatics, or extensive equivalent experience
- Several years of professional experience in software engineering, data analytics, or business intelligence with a deep specialization in Looker (LookML) and BigQuery
- Proven experience in designing Hub-and-Spoke architectures (project imports, refinements) within Looker
- Highly proficient in SQL (BigQuery Dialect) with a focus on optimizing query performance and cost-efficiency
- Strong understanding of dimensional modeling (Star/Snowflake) and how to translate these into an efficient Semantic Layer
- Experience with Looker permissions, content management, and Looker API
- Ability to communicate complex technical architectures to business stakeholders and drive the adoption of data standards
- Team-oriented, communicative, proactive, and solution-driven mindset
- Excellent English skills; German is a plus
- Agile mindset and experience working in cross-functional teams
