Your Tasks
- Collaboration with Tech Leads: Evaluation and guidance of technical solutions for data infrastructure and analytics
- Backlog prioritization support: Contribution to backlog prioritization with a focus on cross-functional data initiatives and reduction of technical debt
- Third-party management: Management of relationships and deliverables from external data technology partners
- Team leadership and development: Leadership and mentoring of a diverse team of data analysts, engineers, and scientists, with a focus on professional growth and continuous learning
- Talent acquisition: Driving recruitment and hiring of internal and external data talent across multiple disciplines
- Resource and staffing ownership: Responsibility for staffing and resource planning, including coordination of data product secondments
- Data platform strategy contribution: Active contribution to the development and evolution of the data platform strategy
- Workforce planning: Strategic shaping of team composition and skill sets to ensure future readiness and success
- Internal networking: Building and maintaining strong cross-functional relationships and internal networks
- Escalation management: Handling of internal escalations with clarity, empathy, and solution-oriented communication
- Culture development: Fostering a culture of openness, collaboration, and alignment across teams
- Technical partnership: Acting as the technical counterpart to Product Managers and Product Owners
- Cross-functional alignment: Bridging technical and product perspectives to ensure alignment and shared outcomes
Your Profile
- Proven experience in engineering leadership with data-focused teams, ideally managing mixed teams of analysts, engineers, and scientists
- Strong technical background with the ability to evaluate and support data architecture decisions, including:
- Data engineering technologies (Apache Spark, Kafka, Airflow, dbt)
- Cloud data platforms (BigQuery, Snowflake, Databricks, or similar)
- Data pipeline orchestration and ETL/ELT processes
- Modern data stack tools and frameworks
- SQL and Python for data analysis and engineering
- Data modeling and warehousing concepts
- Nice to have: Experience with machine learning platforms, real-time streaming, or Java-based data processing
- Passion for people development and mentoring across different data disciplines
- Experience with agile methodologies and cross-functional collaboration in data-driven environments
- Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills
- A strategic mindset with a bias for action and data-driven decision making
- Understanding of data governance, privacy, and compliance requirements
