Your Tasks

The Team Lead Bonus Controlling within MediaMarkt is responsible for the day-to-day leadership, development, and performance of the team. In this role, you combine hands-on people leadership with strong financial and business acumen, ensuring the delivery of accurate, timely, and high-quality bonus controlling activities.

You will play a pivotal role in stabilizing core Bonus Controlling operations, eliminating historical backlogs, and embedding sustainable process improvements. In parallel, you act as a key driver and partner in the execution of the 18-month Bonus Controlling Improvement Plan, supporting a structured transformation agenda across processes, systems, and ways of working.

With strong exposure to senior stakeholders across Procurement and Finance, this role offers meaningful ownership, high visibility, and the opportunity to leave a tangible footprint within a complex, international organization.

Key responsibilities

1. Team Leadership & Management

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of 6 Bonus Controllers, ensuring high-quality and timely reporting and analysis.
  • Foster an inclusive, performance-oriented culture with clear accountability, ownership, and collaboration.
  • Identify skill and development needs and implement tailored learning and development plans.
  • Ensure clear role definitions, efficient task allocation, and balanced workload distribution.

2. Transformation & Improvement Support

  • Actively support and help drive the execution of the 18-month Bonus Controlling Improvement Plan.
  • Lead initiatives to clean up historical backlogs and improve data accuracy, completeness, and integrity.
  • Contribute to stabilizing and improving the bonus invoicing process in close collaboration with Procurement, Finance, and other internal stakeholders.
  • Co-develop and support the implementation of structural process improvements and new ways of working.
  • Monitor progress of improvement initiatives and provide transparent reporting, insights, and recommendations to the Head of Procurement Controlling.

3. Process & Results Management

  • Ensure accurate and compliant monthly bonus controlling processes, including accrual accuracy, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Support the definition and implementation of KPIs, dashboards, and performance tracking to increase transparency and drive continuous improvement.
  • Act as a strong business partner to Procurement and Finance, translating complex data into clear insights and decision-support.
  • Lead and coordinate internal and external audits related to bonus controlling activities.

4. Leadership by Example

  • Role-model expected behaviors, ownership, and high standards of delivery.
  • Promote a collaborative, solution-oriented mindset within the team and across stakeholder groups.
  • Balance hands-on operational support with strategic thinking and continuous improvement focus.

Your Profile

  • +5 years of proven experience in controlling, finance, or a related field, preferably within a complex or international environment.
  • Preferably work experience in the Retail or FMCG sector
  • Bachelor in Controlling, Accountancy, Finance Management or any other related education
  • Demonstrated people leadership experience, ideally leading or coaching teams.
  • Strong analytical skills with a hands-on, results-driven mindset.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
