Your Tasks

As part of our Marketplace development team, you’ll help build and scale one of the key digital growth engines of MediaMarktSaturn, Europe's leading omnichannel consumer electronics retailer. Our platform lets third‑party sellers join our webshop, list their products, and reach customers across Europe – expanding our assortment, boosting availability, and driving a fast‑growing share of online revenue. You’ll take ownership of the end‑to‑end seller journey – from onboarding and catalog integration to order management and payment flows – and work hands‑on with product, operations, and other tech teams to keep it running smoothly. Day to day, you’ll ship features in a modern TypeScript/Node/React stack on GCP, strengthen our event‑driven architecture, and actively shape how the MMS marketplace grows over the next years.

Your tasks: 

• Design and build scalable microservices in TypeScript/Node.js, with a focus on API design, performance, and reliability.
• Build event-driven services using Google Pub/Sub; understand async patterns and distributed system trade-offs.
• Optimize database schemas and queries in MongoDB, design for scale.
• Own service observability: write tests, set up monitoring with Prometheus/Grafana, debug production issues, and improve runbooks.
• Collaborate with product and platform teams to translate requirements into clean, testable code.
• Take responsibility for your services from development through production on GCP and Kubernetes.

Your Profile

• Strong Node.js fundamentals: you've shipped production TypeScript services and understand the event loop, async/await, and streams. 
• Deep MongoDB knowledge: you can design schemas and have knowledge of indexing and performance at scale. 
• Solid grasp of microservices architecture: and message-driven flows. 
• Experience with Google Pub/Sub or similar event messaging systems; you understand trade-offs between sync and async patterns. 
• Comfortable with Kubernetes, GCP services, and CI/CD pipelines. 
• Strong testing discipline: unit tests, integration tests, and you think about edge cases and failure modes. 
• You enjoy owning services end-to-end: writing code, setting up monitoring, and ensuring stability in production.
